What’s your favorite game (card, board, video, etc.)? Why?
Parasite Eve. This one holds sentimental value as well as just being a dope rpg idea. So I was heavy into rpgs (still am) pretty early because it was a full engaging story along with character progression, so being able to play and see results was new to me. One day my brother said he got me something he thought I’d like outta nowhere and I was like “alright”. I didn’t expect much because I didn’t notice if he knew what I was actually interested in. When I started it, I was hooked. Squaresoft was my favorite gaming company at the time too (still is SquareEnix all day) so I was interested to see how they implemented rpgs for a modern set game.
Aya Brea is an NYPD police officer who goes to an opera house for a date when all hell breaks loose. A fire breaks out, people spontaneously combust, rats and animals mutate due to mitochondria and all types of sciencey mystic stuff starts happening. It’s truly a masterpiece to me because it has a lot of suspense and a dash of horror. It also was one of the first games I played where the main hero was a woman with a Black partner. So everything about it was just different. I’m probably gonna play this after work tonight… What an experience.
