My people, my buddies, my doods: MC² made a concept album, it’s brilliant. They’re Hip Hop artists, and I can’t stress enough that they are HIP. HOP. ARTISTS. Not mumble rappers, not trapstars; they believe in the craft of emcee’ing that I haven’t seen around a lot of past friends who were trying to do something with music. The new album The Space Tape is brilliant and comes from some regular dudes. The idea behind the album is that their music somehow will save the planet (nerd shit) and they have skits with their AI (Mya) to add to the atmosphere of being in a spacecraft bound to a planet undiscovered. To watch these 2 guys go from making albums and mixtapes, to seeing a fully grown concept of MC² has been a blessing. I talked before about how they made a necessary album last year Paramount that encapsulated the feeling of frustration/anger/sorrow over the loss of Black lives in 2020 (which continues to this day), but The Space Tape is almost a moment of tranquility despite everything. I don’t put out for things I don’t believe in, but they deserve the support of anyone who vibes with me.
Also they have 3 episodes to prepare you for The Space Tape. Enjoy, tap in and elevate:
